No Orbis account is required. The app assembles your personal daily records on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your photo library, calendar, health records, notes, or complete location history.
1. Who we are
Orbis is developed and operated by 闫龙 (Yan Long) (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy covers the Orbis iPhone and iPad app, this website, and support correspondence. For privacy questions, contact mynameisyanlong@gmail.com.
2. Access you choose to allow
The following sources are optional. Orbis requests system permission before accessing protected information and uses available records to create your photo calendar and daily stories.
- Photos and videos: permitted items and metadata, including dates and embedded locations, are used to organize days, select highlights, and display media. Image analysis takes place on the device. Orbis does not upload your media or request downloads of originals stored only in iCloud.
- Calendar: event titles, times, and related event details are used to show your schedule within a day. Orbis does not add, edit, or delete calendar events.
- Apple Health: steps, sleep, workouts, and workout routes are read to display activity and rest. Workout routes can contain precise coordinates and timestamps. Orbis does not write or modify Health records. Health information is not used for advertising, marketing, data brokerage, or user profiling for those purposes.
- Location: after permission is enabled, iOS may deliver visit locations and arrival or departure times, including in the background. Orbis does not continuously run GPS or reconstruct unrecorded visits. Photo locations and permitted workout routes can also contribute to a day's map.
- Music library: song identifiers, titles, artists, and the most recent recorded play dates are used to place music moments on the dial. This is not a complete listening history. Orbis does not control playback or download music artwork for this feature.
- Motion: available walking, running, cycling, driving, and other system activity classifications and times are read to display activity intervals. iOS limits the available motion history.
- Information you enter: your notes, selected moods, and any home location you manually save are stored locally. A saved home location helps position the map and visualize distances; saving it does not automatically enable live location access.
3. Storage and retention on your device
Orbis stores notes, visit records, a saved home location, and local caches in the app's storage. Caches can contain photo identifiers and metadata, events, health summaries, workout routes, activity intervals, and music moments. Photos and videos themselves remain managed by the system photo library.
These app-managed files use iOS file-protection features and are excluded from cloud backups. Orbis does not provide its own cloud sync or backup. Notes and visit records remain in app storage unless removed with the app; caches may be cleared by iOS and recreated from available sources. Original records in Apple apps follow those apps' separate storage and backup settings.
The app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not sell your personal information or share health records for advertising.
4. Connections to Apple services
Maps and place search
Apple Maps provides map backgrounds and location search. Loading a map sends requests for the displayed area to Apple. If you search for a place while choosing a home location, your search text and map region are used by Apple to return results. Orbis does not keep a separate search history. Full daily routes and personal records are not uploaded as map overlays; markers and route lines are drawn locally.
Sunrise and sunset
Apple Weather provides sunrise, sunset, and twilight information. Orbis sends a date and an approximate location rounded to 0.1 degrees. This can be based on the day's available location data, your saved home, or a locally inferred familiar area. Photos, events, health records, and complete routes are not included in these weather requests. Results may be cached on the device.
Apple's own processing
Network services may receive connection information such as an IP address. Apple's handling of data through its services, operating system, App Store, and any diagnostics you choose to share is governed by Apple's policies and your settings. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
5. Your controls and deletion
You can allow only the sources you want, limit photo access, and change permissions in system Settings or Apple Health. Revoking permission prevents further access through that permission. Orbis rechecks available sources and invalidates relevant caches when it detects changes.
Apple Health does not disclose whether read access has been revoked. Orbis checks which sample types remain readable, but cannot always distinguish revoked permission from an absence of records. Revoking permission should not be treated as a guaranteed immediate deletion of every cached copy.
You can change or remove the home location you saved. To remove all Orbis app-local records and caches, use Delete App in iOS or iPadOS Settings; Offload App retains app data. Deleting Orbis does not delete source records from Photos, Calendar, or Health. Local notes and visits excluded from backup cannot be restored by us.
For information held in support correspondence, you may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion, subject to applicable legal requirements. We cannot retrieve personal records that exist only on your device.
6. Visits to this website
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical request information, such as your IP address, browser details, requested URL, and request time, to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for its handling of that information.
We do not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts, cookies, contact forms, or external font services to this website. Hosting and security services may perform their own processing. Links to other websites are subject to those websites' policies.
7. Emailing support
If you email mynameisyanlong@gmail.com, we receive your email address and the message and attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond, investigate issues, and handle your request. Email is processed through our email service provider, Google, under its Privacy Policy.
Please avoid sending health records, precise location history, private photos, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request. We retain correspondence only as needed to handle the request, keep relevant support records, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not use support correspondence for advertising mailing lists.
8. Children
Orbis is a general-purpose personal journaling app and is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly solicit children's personal information through this website or support email. If you believe a child has sent us personal information and would like it removed, please contact us.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or its services change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be described here and, where required, brought to your attention or made subject to your consent.
